Evidence of AI writing
Along with humans, AI loves starting sentences with words like: Accordingly, Additionally, Arguably, Certainly, Consequently, Hence, However, Indeed, Moreover, Nevertheless, Nonetheless, Notwithstanding, Thus, and Undoubtedly.
I often use the above in my writings except for the words Accordingly, Additionally, Arguably, Nonetheless, Notwithstanding, and Undoubtedly. I use them rarely or don’t use them at all.
Besides these AI excessively uses the following:
Adjectives:
Adept, Commendable, Dynamic, Efficient, Ever-evolving, Exciting, Exemplary, Innovative, Invaluable, Robust, Seamless, Synergistic, Thought-provoking, Transformative, Utmost, Vibrant, Vital;
Nouns:
Efficiency, Innovation, Institution, Integration, Implementation, Landscape, Optimization, Realm, Tapestry, Transformation; Verbs: Aligns, Augment, Delve, Embark, Facilitate, Maximize, Underscore, Utilize;
Phrases:
A testament to…
In conclusion…
In summary… I
It’s important to note/consider…
It’s worth noting that…
Do you read AI-generated emails? I don’t. I am getting bombarded with offers through email, and the moment I see suspicious overused words and long phrases, I stop reading and unsubscribe from the sender. To me, it signals his/her laziness or a lack of authenticity.
Anyone can get fed up with AI-written content—it’s easy to spot at a glance. Have you noticed repetitive words like “embark,” “journey,” “realm,” and the overused word “delve”?
I bet you have.
Or long, vague phrases/sentences like “highlights the importance of concise and focused messaging,” “present valuable opportunities for optimizing…”, “I look forward to collaborating with you to leverage these learnings effectively in our future marketing endeavors”, “delve deeper into the implications of this analysis”.
Avoiding this kind of "language" and focusing on more meaningful messages saves me a lot of time—and it can do the same for you.
As the saying goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. How can you avoid having your text red-flagged as AI-written? There’s no foolproof method, though some software tools claim to be able to detect it.
To me, the best approach is to write the text myself. I use Grammarly, as I did before ChatGPT came onto my radar. It’s fine to get help from ChatGPT, as long as the text remains yours.
If you’re an email marketer, please, for goodness sake, don’t use AI-generated text blindly. Write your own copy, and if you still use AI, make sure to thoroughly revise it. Experienced readers can spot AI content immediately.
Here’s a prompt that could be of great help in getting the response/result within seconds.
